Bribery or true compasion.... you decide

I am sure we have all heard about the U.S. Airways flight that went down and the pilot who stopped the plane from crashing that is now going by the name "hero". As it turns out U.S Airways is sending each passenger a check for $5000.00 because they said it will be months before any of the passengers see personal belongings they had with them. Personally I don't think they will ever see any of it but hey with technology these days maybe than can work something out. They are also reimbursing them… Continue

Downloadable Content = big money in the bank for Microsoft

Downloadable content for Xbox 360 games, such as add-ons for Mass Effect or Guitar Hero III Song Packs, bring in big money for developers, publishers and, naturally by association, Microsoft. As of today, sales of downloadable content have made an additional $240 million, "with $180 million in the last 12 months alone," according to Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business manager Kevin Salcedo. Titles with DLC available through the Xbox Live Marketplace typically generate an extra $21 mi… Continue

Care to join me in a rousing game of Pong Toss?

In what has become the single most ridiculous uprising of parents, educators and even one state's attorney general to date JV Games the makers of Beer Pong have finally caved in to the naysayers and completely revamped and renamed their game to Pong Toss and beer has become cups of water. Beer Pong of course was based off of a well known college drinking game in which players throw a table tennis ball across a table with the intent of landing the ball in one of several cups of beer on the other… Continue

If you know that burned down means destroyed raise your hand.

Apparently reps for Verizon have never been schooled on the tragedy of a house burning down or taught that being completely burned down meant the house and all its belongings no longer existed. Ah the intelligence of some people is a concept far beyond my grasp. In a series of unfortunate events columnist James Gaskin's in-laws lost their home and all that they owned in a fire and needed for their calls to be forwarded to a new number and were given a response that I am still trying to wrap my h… Continue

It's official CALIFORNIA LAW FORBIDS EARLY TERMINATION CHARGES

Californians like the rest of the world were fed up with being charged an outrageous fee for ending their cell phone service early so they stood up and did something about it! On Monday they won a major victory in a Bay Area court when in a preliminary ruling Monday, Alameda County Superior Court Judge Bonnie Sabraw decided that these fees violate state law. It was also said that Sprint Nextel must pay California mobile-phone consumers $18.2 million as part of a class-action lawsuit challenging… Continue

Librarians unite!

First, libraries were forced to start filtering out obscene content in 2000. Then came the Patriot Act, which granted the government the right to examine the books you checked out and the sites you visited on a library's public computers. Now, lawmakers are trying to ban children from accessing MySpace and Facebook on library PCs in order to keep the kids safe from sexual predators. I am not saying I disagree with kids not needing to be on Myspace before a certain age but banning it in a public… Continue

We thank you for helping us make our millions but alas we must call it quits

If you bought DRMed, copy-protected music from Yahoo, you are basically screwed. As of September 30th, 2008 Yahoo is closing its music store and will be shutting down it licensing servers. Yes you can still play the music you bought but there is a catch. You MUST do it on your existing computer which means keep your fingers crossed that your current hard drive has an eternal life and never dies! Oh and p.s. if you buy a new computer no access to all that music you paid for either. Yahoo however… Continue

A groom's cake for the geek at heart =)

Seeing as how I am a lover of tech, games and my own personal "geek", I decided the other day to take a look at groom's cakes after seeing one that looked like a laptop with World of Warcraft on it. I would have never in a million years thought of doing a cake like any of these (don't know why I am shocked seeing as how the groom's cake for my friend's husband was a Patron bottle) but they were awesome to say the least! Here are just a couple I thought I would share with some of my favorite Coll… Continue

What will they think of next? Perhaps a hot Chinese buffet at Wal-Mart while you check out

T-Mobile is now offering home phone service, cable companies can now offer phone services and phone providers can offer you cable. What is this world coming to? People these days seem to be so greedy that refuse to stick to what they know and they just feel the need to branch off into unknown territory which is plain and simple a bunch of BS to the 5th power! I don't want to go into a cell phone store and have to worry about someone stalking me around the store to sale me satellite T.V because u… Continue
