It's official CALIFORNIA LAW FORBIDS EARLY TERMINATION CHARGES

Californians like the rest of the world were fed up with being charged an outrageous fee for ending their cell phone service early so they stood up and did something about it! On Monday they won a major victory in a Bay Area court when in a preliminary ruling Monday, Alameda County Superior Court Judge Bonnie Sabraw decided that these fees violate state law. It was also said that Sprint Nextel must pay California mobile-phone consumers $18.2 million as part of a class-action lawsuit challenging early termination fees and must stop trying to collect and estimated $54.7 million in early termination fees from roughly 2 million Californians who where charged fees and have yet to pay them. Let the crying and whining begin =)

This serves them right! People normally tend to cancel their service with a provider when said service sucks beyond a point that can be tolerated and in my opinion the consumer should not be held accountable. Yes I know that when you sign the agreement it states that their will be a termination fee however if I get home and can't use my phone unless I walk 15 paces to the East or have to stand on my head to get a signal in an emergency then I shouldn't have to pay anything to get the biatch disconnected! Now if you are turning it off just because you saw a shiny, prettier phone with another company then yeah man up and pay the fee because as they say "that was your bad!"

Now The Federal Communications Commission is considering imposing a rule - backed by the wireless industry which might decree that only federal authorities can regulate early termination fees. Naturally they want to make a compromise now because they are left standing with their asses in their hands. Sprint Nextel also argued in the lawsuit that such fees - which ranged from $150 to $200 - were outside the purview of California law. But Sabraw rejected that argument which is only a sign of what a great mind this woman truly has. Sprint Nextel - 0 Consumers - 1

How you like them apples?!?!

I'm almost positive S/N will retaliate by raising cell phone rates and phone prices to make up for the loss.
