If you know that burned down means destroyed raise your hand.

Apparently reps for Verizon have never been schooled on the tragedy of a house burning down or taught that being completely burned down meant the house and all its belongings no longer existed. Ah the intelligence of some people is a concept far beyond my grasp. In a series of unfortunate events columnist James Gaskin's in-laws lost their home and all that they owned in a fire and needed for their calls to be forwarded to a new number and were given a response that I am still trying to wrap my head around. They were told that in order for the forwarding to be done they would need to return home (yes the house the rep was told had burned down) and call from the home phone (uh huh the one that was surely lying in a melted heap) and request the forwarding to be done.

I would like for someone to explain the logic behind the Verizon reps response to me if it is at all possible. Last time I checked something being burned down meant that it had been destroyed and there was no longer access to it. Has this changed, have I missed something along the way? As sad as this may sound I truly hope that this was just someone lazy trying to pass the buck as usual rather than shear stupidity as to what was going on. Laziness their is a fix for, fire their ass! However stupidity, there is no cure for despite years and years of research and testing. It seems to me these companies hire just about anyone these days which is not fair to the consumer who has to deal with them. Get on the ball folks and at least hire someone with some type of sense who at least knows what fire and being burned down means. Is it to much to ask?
