Downloadable Content = big money in the bank for Microsoft

Downloadable content for Xbox 360 games, such as add-ons for Mass Effect or Guitar Hero III Song Packs, bring in big money for developers, publishers and, naturally by association, Microsoft.

As of today, sales of downloadable content have made an additional $240 million, "with $180 million in the last 12 months alone," according to Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business manager Kevin Salcedo.
Titles with DLC available through the Xbox Live Marketplace typically generate an extra $21 million on average, and seem to have gamers opting to hang onto the games much longer than games without DLC instead of trading them into Gamestop.

Any thoughts on the amount of revenue something a simple as DLC brings in?

I have no problem with add-on DLC as long as the prices aren't outrageous. I've already paid between $50-$60 for the game. I expect to pay no more than $5 for any downloadble add-ons.
